The Skiing
It is hard not to be impressed by the versatility of the 4 Valleys ski area, made up of the resorts of Verbier, Nendaz, Veysonnaz and Thyon. The ski season runs from November to April and the weather normally provides a mix of great powder snow, cold temperatures and often quite a lot of sunshine. As the slopes are mostly above two and a half thousand meters, snow is a given for the season, particularly with over fifty snow cannons serving forty of the main slopes. The network of Ski lifts in Verbier is hugely impressive and they have spent a lot of money in recent years cutting queues and extending the services. A love of skiing is immediately instilled (whatever your age) at the nursery slopes, three of which are located in Verbier itself, and the first class ski schools in the area have garnered great reviews. Improvers will love how fast they improve their skills on the vast array of intermediate slopes, with hundreds of kilometers of motorway blues and some fairly challenging red runs - black runs such as the Mont Fort are definitely not for the faint hearted but offer a great challenge for anyone wanting a test on more advanced pistes. The ‘Off Piste' and ‘itinery' runs are where the 4 Valleys really excel, attracting thrill seekers looking for more extreme skiing and snowboarding. In fact some of the world's more hard core snow sport events such as Extreme Verbier are based here - adrenaline junkies will not be disappointed.
Apre ski and nightlife
Verbier nightlife is lively and the stuff of legends, many people head there just to party! Chill with the beautiful people in trendy places like the Coco Club with its extensive cocktails and A-list celebrity guest list, or party with the cool kids in one of the world's most famous après ski bars, the Farinet. And don't be put off by the up market reputation of this resort as a good night out really is available for all, with loads of great bars and clubs of every vibe and idiom. For those wanting a quieter pace of life off the hill, there are countless relaxed après ski bars to chill on a sun lounger and just take in the scenery.
Food is varied from Michelin star restaurants to quaint little cafés serving traditional Swiss Raclette. Of course, catered chalet holidays in Verbier can also provide wonderful nights in with friends and family. What could be better than having a wonderful meal cooked for you in your own catered chalet and then catching up with friends or family over (free) wine. That way the entertainment can be as lively or laid back as you like. All in all Verbier is addictively hip and no end of fun. The only restrictions are how far your fortitude will take you or how much time you want to miss off the amazing slopes nursing a hangover.
